DIY Giant Marble Run
10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Let your imagination run free. Create a path for your marble to travel using funnels, pulleys and tubes through the Museum’s giant marble run.
Big Board Game
1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Take part in the Museum’s giant board game—where you are the life-sized playing piece. Test your knowledge of inventions and machines

Explore science and technology in Canada with this original scavenger hunt that the whole family can enjoy.
Incredible Towers

Help Us Set a World Record

Be part of the Largest Practical Science Lesson World Record. All across Canada, people of all ages will be taking part in the same science experiment. Join in on Friday, October 18, 2013, and help achieve a world record. The experiment starts at 1:00 p.m. sharp.

Rubik’s Cube Challenge

Solving a Rubik’s cube is not easy. Can you imagine doing it quickly, or blindfolded? Join youth from the Club de Cube de L’Escale who do just that, and learn some of their tricks. Fun for all ages!
Storytelling — Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The bird has his heart set on driving the bus, but the driver has asked you to stop him. Will you be able to stand up to the pigeon?
Robotics Demonstrations

Try your hand at controlling a robot. Join kids from the WAFFLES Robotics Club and the All Saints Robotics Team who will show you how!
Public Stargazing

Stargazers of all ages enjoy an evening of astronomy at the Museum’s Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory. Weather permitting, visitors can look through the historic 15-inch telescope at the stars, the planets, and the Moon.This program is free with donation. Your generosity helps the Museum maintain the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory and the astronomy programs.

Designed for kids ages 6 to 12, these hands-on family workshops feature take-home crafts. Each workshop offers new discovery activities to encourage children’s exploration of the world of astronomy. Explore lunar eclipses and watch the penumbral eclipse of the Moon live through the Museum’s telescopes (or bring your own!) The telescope portion of the evening is weather permitting — dress warmly. NSTW Lecture Series

Enjoy one of the Museum’s exciting lectures showcasing dynamic research by Canadian scientists and engineers. This is a perfect opportunity for students in Grades 9/Secondary 3 and up to explore potential careers in science, while supplementing your science curriculum. School groups only. There’s more to museums than meets the eye! Go behind the scenes and learn more about some of the exciting work we do. For grades 5 and up. Please reserve early, as spaces are limited. Due to the special nature of this program, groups must have a minimum of one adult supervisor per 10 students. For groups of 15 to 20 participants (larger groups can be split). Special fee of $8 per student, which includes Museum admission.
